Pangolin Comics: Draw, Learn & Protect

What happens when creativity meets conservation? 🎨✨ With our Pangolin Comics activity, kids get to be the storytellers, illustrators, and even wildlife heroes! Using a comic strip template, your explorer will create their own pangolin adventure — while learning fun facts about these scaly superheroes.

🖍️ What You’ll Need

  • Comic strip template (download below)

  • Pencils, crayons, or markers

  • (Optional) Pangolin fact sheet or photos from edZOOcation's Pangolin Box for inspiration

🐾 Zookeeper & Zoologist (Ages 5–8)

This version has four panels with some artwork already started. Younger kids get to:

  • Finish the story by filling in the last square

  • Color in the pangolin and background scenes

  • Add simple dialogue or “Did you know?” fun fact bubbles

✨ Learning Focus: Sequencing (first–next–last) while building creativity and confidence.

🌍 Conservationist (Ages 9–12)

This version begins with one panel already started and leaves the rest open. Older kids get to:

  • Invent the storyline in the remaining squares

  • Draw characters and backgrounds to expand the world

  • Write speech/thought bubbles to add humor or conservation messages

✨ Learning Focus: Problem-solving, empathy for endangered species, and creative writing through comics.

💡 How to Take It Further

  • Color It In: Turn pangolins into bold superheroes, silly comic stars, or realistic rainforest creatures.

  • Add Fact Bubbles: Drop in pangolin facts (“Did you know they eat millions of ants a year?”).

  • Share It: Display comics at home, in class, or on social media using #edZOOcationartwork.

🌟 Why It Matters

This activity isn’t just fun — it teaches kids about storytelling, art, and conservation. Every pangolin comic helps build empathy for endangered animals and inspires the next generation of Wildlife Guardians.
