Elephants are intelligent, social animals that play an important role in keeping rainforest ecosystems healthy. In this activity, kids will use what they’ve learned about Asian and Bornean elephants to create their own elephant cartoon—taking inspiration from the real elephants protected by Seratu Aatai in Borneo.
How to Create Your Elephant Cartoon
-
Imagine your elephant character
Is your elephant a Bornean elephant living in the rainforest? Part of a family led by a matriarch? Does it have a special role, like guiding younger elephants or helping plants grow? Give your elephant a name and personality. -
Design and draw your elephant
Draw your elephant as a cartoon, choosing its size, ear shape, trunk, and expressions. Add fun details like forest leaves, mud, or water splashes. -
Create the setting
Draw where your elephant lives—such as a rainforest pathway, river, or forest edge. Think about how elephants move through and shape their habitat. -
Tell the story
Create a single scene or short comic showing your elephant in action—staying with family, spreading seeds, or learning to live alongside people. Add speech bubbles or captions to explain what’s happening. -
Get inspired
Check out Seratu Aatai’s animated elephant cartoons on Instagram for an amazing look into the lives of Bornean elephants. Their animations bring real conservation stories to life and show how elephants live, move, and interact with their rainforest home.

Conservation Connection
This activity is inspired by the real elephants protected by Seratu Aatai, an organization working with local communities in Borneo to protect elephant families and support coexistence. When kids turn learning into stories, understanding becomes care—and care helps protect wildlife.
