April Kid Conservationist of the Month: Meet Jacob | edZOOcrew

Our April edZOOcrew Kid Conservationist of the Month is Jacob, age 9, a young conservationist who uses wildlife education, park cleanups, and everyday acts of kindness to help animals.

Jacob loves superheroes, but he has discovered something even more exciting: animals have superpowers, too. In his words, “No, they actually do!”

His love for wildlife began with shows like Wild Kratts, where “creature powers” helped connect his interest in superheroes with his growing curiosity about animals. Since then, Jacob’s passion for animal conservation has only grown.

A Young Conservationist Who Loves Learning About Wildlife

Jacob believes that learning is one of the best ways to help animals. He collects animal encyclopedia books, reads Nat Geo Kids, enjoys edZOOcation booklets, and listens to animal podcasts to keep expanding his knowledge.

For Jacob, wildlife education is a superpower of its own.

Teaching Others About Endangered Animals

Jacob does not keep what he learns to himself. He loves sharing animal facts and conservation tips with others.

For his school Science Fair project, “Nature is in Danger,” Jacob researched endangered animals, including five vertebrates and one invertebrate. For each animal, he shared its habitat, an interesting fact, its biggest threat, and ways people can help protect wildlife — even from their own backyard.

He presented his project to classmates and school administrators, then handed out information sheets with QR codes so others could continue learning how to help animals.

His project is a wonderful example of wildlife education for kids and how young conservationists can inspire their communities.

Turning Animal Advocacy Into Action

Jacob’s passion goes beyond learning and teaching. He also takes action.

Each spring, Jacob chooses a new park and picks up trash to help protect local wildlife and keep natural spaces clean. He uses his allowance to buy Fahlo bracelets that support animal conservation efforts around the world.

And after rainstorms, Jacob rescues stranded worms from sidewalks and gently moves them back into the grass.

To Jacob, no creature is too small, too slimy, or too easy to overlook. Every animal matters.

In His Own Words

When asked why animals matter to him, Jacob said:

“Animals are part of our home; they’re like family. And they actually have superpowers. I don’t want those superpowers to go away. So, if I don’t take care of them, who will?”

Local Action, Global Impact

As part of his recognition as our April edZOOcrew Kid Conservationist of the Month, edZOOcation is making a $100 donation in Jacob’s name to the Snow Leopard Conservancy.

Jacob’s actions show that kids helping wildlife can make a meaningful difference. Whether he is teaching others about endangered animals, cleaning up a park, supporting global conservation, or saving worms after the rain, Jacob reminds us that every act of kindness for nature matters.

Please join us in celebrating Jacob and the incredible impact he is already making as a young Wildlife Guardian.
